I have wanted to do a cross country road trip style family vacation for as long as I can remember.   Heather and I both love the southwest landscapes and  have been talking for years about how much fun it would be to take the kids.  Well they are growing up so fast we decided last Winter that we should just do it!

(Cue Lindsay Buckingham with Holiday Road theme song now…)

We both  believed it would be the most fun to have them help plan it together with us, so I pinned up a map onto the wall, put our travel books on the table, and  went to recruit some help.

Heather said I was dorky (of course) for this but I thought it would  be a fun way to tell the kids. I setup  yellow road stripes throughout the house, handed them pretend steering wheels and let them follow the path.

They said, “What’s going on?”   I replied, “Follow the road ;)”

Over the next several weeks they spent  time reading the books, checking Pinterest, and watching youtube clips (their method of research is different than our generation…)  We all pinned the map for places we wanted to see.

Welcome
