Today was a great last day of our trip. Tomorrow we get up and travel all day, so we decided to do one last challenging hike to end our trip. It took the whole day, and our friend Rob met up with us at the visitors center and did the hike with us! The incline in the beginning was definitely difficult, but the views were stupendous.
We saw Mt. Rainier towering in front of us, and all around we could see that we were level with the clouds and other shorter mountains in the distance. After completely the steep walk to the highest point of our hike, we sat down, took pictures, and ate PB&J sandwiches that we brought, which tasted amazing.
The way down was just as beautiful, with grassy hills and tons of wildflowers everywhere you looked. We also saw many marmots, which I didn’t even know existed before today!
Once we reached the bottom, our legs were all tired but it had been so worth it. We ate good food from the visitors center/lodge, and then said goodbye to Rob as we headed back to our campsite. On the way back, we made the decision to drive to a hotel to shower and be closer to the airport for tomorrow, instead of staying in the campsite again. When we got back to the campsite to pack up, it only took us 33 minutes from the time we parked to getting back in the car to pack up our tents/food/everythinggg else. (Also I would like to point out that the kids beat the parents in the race to take down our tents. Kind of like how Noah and I beat our parents at playing pitch multiple times this trip…)
We got to the hotel and went in the pool and are now relaxing and showering (finally, we smell.) Today was a great day 🙂
